Courier and transport
A courier has to scan dozens or hundreds of parcels a day, confirm delivery and give the customer proof of receipt. The terminal is their main tool: if it runs out of battery at lunchtime or loses the network, the day is ruined.
Typical tasks
- Scanning parcels at loading, sorting and delivery
- Proof of delivery: scan, photo, on-screen signature
- Route optimization and navigation using the terminal's GPS
- Cash on delivery, if the software and payments allow it
- Returns and logging problems (damaged parcel, wrong address)
- Work in the sorting warehouse and at loading docks
What to look for
Battery life. The most important criterion. Choose a model with a high-capacity battery that can be swapped (for example the extended-battery variants of the Zebra TC53e/TC58e or Honeywell CT47). A second battery on the charger reduces the risk of a lost day.
Connectivity. If the route passes through areas with poor Wi-Fi coverage, you need a cellular module (4G/5G). The Zebra TC58e and TC78 have 5G variants; other models have Wi-Fi-only variants, so check the configuration.
Sunlight-readable screen. The screen must be readable outdoors: high brightness, durable glass.
Durability. Drops from the hand, rain, dust, large temperature swings. A device rated IP65 or higher is suitable for daily outdoor work.
GPS. For parcel location, proof of delivery and navigation you need a reliable GPS module. Most Android terminals in our ranges have one.
Camera. A photo of the parcel at handover protects against disputes: check the quality of the camera, not just the resolution.
